The Nijsinghhuis
In 1971, the couple Jos and Janneke van Groeningen-Hazenberg bought the Nijsinghhuis in the village of Eelde from the municipality for the symbolic amount of 1 Dutch guilder, on the condition that they would renovate the old building. They invited five painters from the Northern Realists group to decorate the walls and ceilings. One of them was Matthijs Röling.
Curious about the paint decorations in the Nijsinghhuis? Then the magnificent Blue Room, the library and the starry sky in the entrance hall are the must-gos.
