‘The best landscape painter in the Netherlands’. This is what English journalists wrote about Alexander Mollinger af ter the London World Exhibition in 1862. He made this painting of a sun-drenched landscape in Drenthe especially f or the Scottish market, where he was also very popular. The press particularly praised his use of colour.
