The tragic side of the story

Burial mounds are rather conspicuous monuments. Not surprising, because they serve to remind everyone of the stories that are buried in them. These stories are often idealized: in reality the lives of the 'residents' of the mounds were not always so perfect and heroic as the story makes them out to be. The end of life of the young woman resting here, surely wasn’t perfect either. She was cremated and buried together with her child.
