Not everything is a sacrifice
The peatlands were used for sacrifice, but they were also hunting grounds. Hunting was done with bow (2,3) and arrow (1), and not only by hunters-gatherers but also by early farmers, to bring some variation into their diet.
These grindstones (4) and this hammer-axe (5) are sacrifices. They had no practical function in the peatland. Grindstones served to grind grain, which does not grow there, and hammer-axes served to prepare sandy soils for agriculture. These objects must therefore have been brought to the peat and left there for a different purpose.
This wooden figurine of a cow (6) is a symbolic offering.
