Labyrinthia – a magical journey through time

Welcome to Labyrinthia! The wonderful, surprising maze of the Drents Museum. 
What will you encounter? What are you going to experience? Step into fifteen different worlds of archaeology, art and history. 

Listen to wonderful and exciting stories told by contemporaries as well as by people from the past. 
Feel the history, paddle along in the oldest boat in the world, paint like Vincent van Gogh, meet the girl of Yde, be inspired and think about what makes us human.

  • For blind and visually impaired visitors

    The Drents Museum is a complex of mainly old buildings. It’s sometimes difficult to find your way and you will encounter stairs and strange corners. It’s a veritable labyrinth! We recommend that blind and visually impaired visitors visit the exhibition with a guide.

    Labyrinthia is full of different experiences. Each room has its own atmosphere. Some are light, others are dark. Some have lot of noise, others are quiet. You will also encounter various scents.

    If you or your fellow visitor is blind or visually impaired then be sure to consider using the following aids, which you will recognise by the yellow colour.

    Please note: you will need a smartphone and earphones (which you can also obtain from the information desk).

    Listening to the wall texts
    In each room, the large, introductory wall text can also be listened to. To the right of the text, you will find a yellow QR code with an ear icon. Scan the code to hear the text.

    Tactile displays
    In each room there are objects that you can touch. You can recognise the location of these tactile displays by the yellow background. The corresponding audio can be found via the yellow QR code with the ear icon. 

    Audio descriptions of key objects
    In each room, there is an audio description of one key object from the collection. To listen to the descriptions, scan the yellow QR code with the ear icon on the corresponding label.

    Scents
    You can also listen to additional information about some of the scents. Scan the yellow QR code with the ear icon.
